Wednesday, Oct. 4 is the feast day of St. Francis, patron saint of animals. On the nearest Sunday, October 1, Church of the Advent celebrates by inviting our animal friends to be blessed. This tradition has been going strong for many years and is a joyous occasion open to anyone who’d like to participate. Pet owners and their companions (in cages or on leashes) should come to the Church grounds for a formal blessing. At the Blessing of the Animals, people remember and emulate Francis’ example of love for animals and appreciation of God’s creations. If you would like to post a flyer for the event in the community, the link is below.
